Synthesis.

Or rather, the ability to create a peaceful coexistence between ideas and opposing ideas, thesis and antithesis: a process by which contradictory, or even seemingly incompatible, meanings and connotations meld into one. As in Glamour and Minimalism, styles of fashion and currents of thought which back in the 1990s,during the big shift into the new millennium, took turns in describing cultures, moods and looks. So, with an aesthetic operation very much about synthesis, Alessandro Dell’Acqua prepares the N21 Prefall 2022 and Men’sFall-Winter 2022-23 Collections in a “double play” where visions of feminine and masculine fashion find joint expression on conceptual as well as concrete levels in a season marking a perfect intermingling among genres, seasonal factors and cultures of coexistence.

«I created a synthesis of both references and genres by using the principle of communicating vessels: it’s as if, inorder to coexist, the maximalist glamour and the minimalism of the ‘90s became liquid to permeate one another while contemporaneously meeting the punk aspects and technological advances of textile research. In this sense, I think the union of these elements describes the modernity that’s taking shape in present times,» says Alessandro dell’Acqua, creative director of N21.
